February 23, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2431 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1618 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3671 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. FAR EAST ENERGY CORP (OTCBB:FEEC), GENERAL MILLS INC (NYSE:GIS), EXXON MOBIL CORP (NYSE:XOM), ISHARES MSCI JAPAN INDEX FD (NYSE:EWJ), ALLSCRIPTS-MISYS HEALTHCARE (NASDAQ:MDRX), MICROSOFT CORP (NASDAQ:MSFT). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction FEEC $0.015 2.56% 1,077,039 22.33% 3,784,947 78.49% -2,707,908 Abnormal GIS $0.340 0.93% 3,221,698 35.65% 5,005,391 55.38% -1,783,693 Abnormal XOM $1.620 1.90% 15,654,825 40.73% 18,204,832 47.36% -2,550,007 Abnormal EWJ $0.020 0.18% 11,702,038 45.09% 14,450,964 55.68% -2,748,926 Abnormal MDRX $0.070 0.33% 2,133,047 33.98% 4,076,576 64.94% -1,943,529 Abnormal MSFT $0.020 0.08% 25,571,496 48.30% 29,333,775 55.41% -3,762,279 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Wednesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows FEEC with 2,707,908 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.01500. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
