February 18, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2598 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2975 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2191 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. INFINITY ENERGY RESOURCES (OTC:IFNY), ON ASSIGNMENT INC (NASDAQ:ASGN), RADIO ONE INC -CL D (NASDAQ:ROIAK), ARUBA NETWORKS INC (NASDAQ:ARUN), TECHTARGET (NASDAQ:TTGT), AMERICAN PUBLIC EDUCATION (NASDAQ:APEI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     IFNY $0.350 24.14% 95,514 38.62% 88,483 35.78% 7,031 201
     ASGN $1.560 17.55% 588,946 52.28% 536,013 47.58% 52,933 339
     ROIAK $0.310 19.50% 1,236,719 62.64% 763,071 38.65% 473,648 15,279
     ARUN $4.530 16.98% 5,934,301 49.65% 5,888,060 49.26% 46,241 102
     TTGT $1.380 18.93% 300,234 48.96% 298,630 48.70% 1,604 12
     APEI $8.190 23.34% 800,560 50.54% 723,279 45.66% 77,281 94
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows IFNY with a dollar gain Friday of $0.35000 and a Friction Factor of 201 shares. That means that it only took 201 more shares of buying than selling to move IFNY higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
