February 15, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2379 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1979 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3407 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Tuesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. WINDSTREAM CORP (NASDAQ:WIN), FINANCIAL SELECT SECTOR SPDR (NYSE:XLF), POWERSHARES QQQ NASDAQ 100 (NASDAQ:QQQQ), SPDR S&P 500 ETF TRUST (NYSE:SPY), CHIMERA INVESTMENT CORP (NYSE:CIM), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     WIN $-0.010 -0.08% 1,707,742 15.63% 9,215,850 84.37% -7,508,108 -7,508,108
     XLF $-0.070 -0.41% 17,896,849 37.00% 36,311,522 75.08% -18,414,673 -2,630,668
     QQQQ $-0.080 -0.14% 16,140,056 40.90% 22,879,523 57.97% -6,739,467 -842,433
     SPY $-0.390 -0.29% 52,415,606 44.11% 67,782,192 57.04% -15,366,586 -394,015
     CIM $-0.070 -1.67% 8,293,595 32.27% 16,270,653 63.31% -7,977,058 -1,139,580
     S $-0.080 -1.76% 17,822,007 34.27% 30,573,774 58.78% -12,751,767 -1,593,971

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows S down $-0.08000 with a Friction Factor of -1,593,971 and a Net Volume of -12,751,767. That means that it takes 1,593,971 more shares of selling than buying to drop S by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
