February 9, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2551 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1978 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3299 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. POWERSHARES QQQ NASDAQ 100 (NASDAQ:QQQQ), VANGUARD EMERGING MARKET ETF (NYSE:VWO), POPULAR INC (NASDAQ:BPOP), ISHARES MSCI JAPAN INDEX FD (NYSE:EWJ), EL PASO CORP (NYSE:EP), WYNDHAM WORLDWIDE CORP (NYSE:WYN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     QQQQ $-0.090 -0.15% 30,477,010 51.15% 29,105,764 48.85% 1,371,246 Abnormal
     VWO $-0.970 -2.07% 26,722,680 54.88% 21,239,393 43.62% 5,483,287 Abnormal
     BPOP $-0.030 -0.99% 10,856,701 63.87% 6,140,430 36.13% 4,716,271 Abnormal
     EWJ $-0.070 -0.66% 23,724,293 53.57% 20,710,052 46.76% 3,014,241 Abnormal
     EP $-0.150 -0.89% 5,017,705 55.08% 3,321,327 36.46% 1,696,378 Abnormal
     WYN $-1.190 -3.86% 7,991,913 58.75% 4,548,070 33.43% 3,443,843 Abnormal

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows WYN with 3,443,843 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-1.19000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
