February 9, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2551 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1978 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3299 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. PHOTRONICS INC (NASDAQ:PLAB), LEADING BRANDS INC (NASDAQ:LBIX), SWS GROUP INC (NYSE:SWS), MAD CATZ INTERACTIVE INC (AMEX:MCZ), DSW INC-CLASS A (NYSE:DSW), GATEWAY INDUSTRIES INC (OTC:GWAY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     PLAB $1.100 16.37% 2,098,067 57.25% 1,553,838 42.40% 544,229 4,948
     LBIX $0.590 19.60% 86,423 53.43% 75,318 46.57% 11,105 188
     SWS $1.420 33.10% 1,496,612 46.95% 1,396,759 43.82% 99,853 703
     MCZ $0.330 29.46% 2,045,857 53.15% 1,676,228 43.55% 369,629 11,201
     DSW $5.480 15.13% 1,042,726 45.19% 994,314 43.09% 48,412 88
     GWAY $0.990 52.38% 212,843 21.02% 138,707 13.70% 74,136 749

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GWAY with a dollar gain Wednesday of $0.99000 and a Friction Factor of 749 shares. That means that it only took 749 more shares of buying than selling to move GWAY higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
