Market Maker Surveillance Report. KNKT, CRGE, OREX, PFBC, LBIX, CHMP, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Tuesday, Fe
February 1, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2262 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4274 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1445 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. KUNEKT CORP (:KNKT), CLENERGEN CORP (OTC:CRGE), OREXIGEN THERAPEUTICS INC (NASDAQ:OREX), PREFERRED BANK/LOS ANGELES (NASDAQ:PFBC), LEADING BRANDS INC (NASDAQ:LBIX), CHAMPION INDUSTRIES INC/WV (NASDAQ:CHMP). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction KNKT $-0.260 -21.67% 1,258,405 37.65% 1,858,844 55.61% -600,439 -23,094 CRGE $-0.190 -11.88% 26,582 35.17% 44,500 58.88% -17,918 -943 OREX $-6.540 -71.95% 88,058,890 47.09% 98,834,979 52.85% -10,776,089 -16,477 PFBC $-0.250 -13.51% 75,162 18.12% 335,437 80.89% -260,275 -10,411 LBIX $-0.450 -13.51% 38,627 44.37% 48,424 55.63% -9,797 -218 CHMP $-0.240 -12.00% 27,752 46.14% 32,394 53.86% -4,642 -193
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CHMP with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-0.24000 and a Friction Factor of -193 shares. That means that it only took 193 more shares of selling than buying to move CHMP lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
