February 1, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2262 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4274 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1445 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. FIFTH STREET FINANCE CORP (NYSE:FSC), US NATURAL GAS FUND LP (NYSE:UNG), BAE SYSTEMS PLC -SPON ADR (OTC:BAESY), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), HUNTINGTON BANCSHARES INC (NASDAQ:HBAN), SAVIENT PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:SVNT). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     FSC $-0.350 -2.66% 5,988,539 53.34% 4,525,143 40.31% 1,463,396 Abnormal
     UNG $-0.090 -1.50% 9,957,665 59.15% 7,162,910 42.55% 2,794,755 Abnormal
     BAESY $-0.400 -1.83% 1,580,668 67.37% 84,694 3.61% 1,495,974 Abnormal
     S $-0.130 -2.88% 26,901,361 48.15% 25,241,261 45.18% 1,660,100 Abnormal
     HBAN $-0.010 -0.14% 16,358,207 53.14% 14,397,302 46.77% 1,960,905 Abnormal
     SVNT $-0.090 -0.98% 5,693,351 59.69% 3,840,451 40.26% 1,852,900 Abnormal

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SVNT with 1,852,900 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.09000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
