February 1, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2262 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4274 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1445 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ECHO THERAPEUTICS INC (OTCBB:ECTE), NEW ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES INC (OTCBB:NENE), SILICON MOTION TECHNOL-ADR (NASDAQ:SIMO), SUPERCONDUCTOR TECHNOLOGIES (NASDAQ:SCON), RADIO ONE INC -CL D (NASDAQ:ROIAK), MANITOWOC COMPANY INC (NYSE:MTW). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ECTE $0.690 28.75% 712,112 62.10% 421,502 36.76% 290,610 4,212
     NENE $0.290 20.71% 1,154,218 58.07% 778,343 39.16% 375,875 12,961
     SIMO $1.890 33.99% 2,177,182 53.24% 1,894,755 46.33% 282,427 1,494
     SCON $0.490 32.03% 1,259,065 54.09% 1,068,532 45.91% 190,533 3,888
     ROIAK $0.240 19.20% 667,505 55.30% 539,514 44.70% 127,991 5,333
     MTW $3.590 26.73% 9,820,619 47.71% 8,442,357 41.02% 1,378,262 3,839

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MTW with a dollar gain Tuesday of $3.59000 and a Friction Factor of 3,839 shares. That means that it only took 3,839 more shares of buying than selling to move MTW higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
