January 27, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2719 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2652 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2364 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Thursday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. ISHARES COMEX GOLD TRUST (NYSE:IAU), MCAFEE INC (NYSE:MFE), INTEL CORP (NASDAQ:INTC), SARA LEE CORP (NYSE:SLE), CONSUMER STAPLES SPDR (NYSE:XLP), MATERIALS SELECT SECTOR SPDR (NYSE:XLB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     IAU $-0.330 -2.49% 4,471,146 35.96% 8,054,855 64.78% -3,583,709 -108,597
     MFE $-0.060 -0.13% 2,503,618 27.80% 6,264,631 69.55% -3,761,013 -626,836
     INTC $-0.030 -0.14% 27,792,587 47.96% 29,691,650 51.24% -1,899,063 -633,021
     SLE $-0.920 -4.97% 16,831,702 40.02% 18,579,732 44.18% -1,748,030 -19,000
     XLP $-0.300 -1.01% 4,325,683 28.35% 11,004,856 72.12% -6,679,173 -222,639
     XLB $-0.300 -0.79% 4,449,599 39.60% 6,924,728 61.64% -2,475,129 -82,504

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLB down $-0.30000 with a Friction Factor of -82,504 and a Net Volume of -2,475,129. That means that it takes 82,504 more shares of selling than buying to drop XLB by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
