January 11, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2553 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3267 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2047 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. XEROX CORP (NYSE:XRX), YAHOO! INC (NASDAQ:YHOO), ON SEMICONDUCTOR CORPORATION (NASDAQ:ONNN), INTEL CORP (NASDAQ:INTC), INGERSOLL-RAND PLC (NYSE:IR), UNITED MICROELECTRON-SP ADR (NYSE:UMC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     XRX $0.070 0.61% 3,576,791 37.02% 5,321,287 55.07% -1,744,496 Abnormal
     YHOO $0.040 0.24% 6,490,524 45.13% 7,714,288 53.64% -1,223,764 Abnormal
     ONNN $0.120 1.09% 5,158,589 44.58% 6,212,202 53.68% -1,053,613 Abnormal
     INTC $0.370 1.81% 30,962,564 47.74% 33,644,512 51.88% -2,681,948 Abnormal
     IR $0.240 0.52% 1,179,183 24.18% 3,480,397 71.37% -2,301,214 Abnormal
     UMC $0.090 2.95% 1,377,844 21.42% 4,907,250 76.29% -3,529,406 Abnormal

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows UMC with 3,529,406 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.09000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
