Market Maker Surveillance Report. GLUU, ZAAP, RMTR, GNI, GCFB, PDLI, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Monday, Janu
January 10, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2593 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2666 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2512 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. GLU MOBILE INC (NASDAQ:GLUU), ZAP (OTCBB:ZAAP), RAMTRON INTERNATIONAL CORP (NASDAQ:RMTR), GREAT NORTHERN IRON ORE PPTY (NYSE:GNI), GRANITE CITY FOOD & BREWERY (NASDAQ:GCFB), PDL BIOPHARMA INC (NASDAQ:PDLI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction GLUU $-0.310 -11.83% 349,068 39.24% 538,733 60.56% -189,665 -6,118 ZAAP $-0.494 -27.75% 765,291 40.70% 1,103,390 58.69% -338,099 -6,844 RMTR $-0.440 -12.09% 109,300 33.28% 218,043 66.39% -108,743 -2,471 GNI $-24.620 -18.48% 57,811 39.72% 76,361 52.47% -18,550 -8 GCFB $-0.690 -14.41% 42,530 42.37% 56,454 56.24% -13,924 -202 PDLI $-0.760 -12.32% 3,222,078 49.27% 3,278,142 50.12% -56,064 -738
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows PDLI with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.76000 and a Friction Factor of -738 shares. That means that it only took 738 more shares of selling than buying to move PDLI lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
