January 10, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2593 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2666 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2512 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. EVERGREEN ENERGY INC (NYSE:EEE), GENETIC TECH LTD-SP ADR (NASDAQ:GENE), ACADIA PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:ACAD), PLURISTEM THERAPEUTICS INC (NASDAQ:PSTI), DOT HILL SYSTEMS CORP (NASDAQ:HILL), AASTROM BIOSCIENCES INC (NASDAQ:ASTM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     EEE $0.340 25.19% 2,530,193 56.32% 2,041,250 45.43% 488,943 14,381
     GENE $1.050 70.95% 209,054 46.76% 208,597 46.66% 457 4
     ACAD $0.440 38.26% 5,447,185 53.06% 4,818,867 46.94% 628,318 14,280
     PSTI $0.390 20.97% 768,195 51.86% 712,323 48.09% 55,872 1,433
     HILL $0.550 29.10% 987,398 56.86% 746,883 43.01% 240,515 4,373
     ASTM $0.660 25.38% 5,650,390 54.86% 4,587,540 44.54% 1,062,850 16,104

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ASTM with a dollar gain Monday of $0.66000 and a Friction Factor of 16,104 shares. That means that it only took 16,104 more shares of buying than selling to move ASTM higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
