January 10, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2593 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2666 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2512 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Monday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. ADVANCED CELL TECHNOLOGY INC (OTCBB:ACTC), MICROSOFT CORP (NASDAQ:MSFT), SOUTHERN CO (NYSE:SO), PROGRESSIVE CORP (NYSE:PGR), FINANCIAL SELECT SECTOR SPDR (NYSE:XLF), ISHARES MSCI BRAZIL (NYSE:EWZ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ACTC $-0.011 -5.18% 12,153,122 38.70% 17,147,173 54.60% -4,994,051 -4,711,369
     MSFT $-0.410 -1.44% 24,954,411 44.41% 33,331,090 59.32% -8,376,679 -204,309
     SO $-0.320 -0.84% 1,542,686 14.22% 8,941,027 82.42% -7,398,341 -231,198
     PGR $-0.440 -2.23% 2,388,582 16.26% 11,834,252 80.57% -9,445,670 -214,674
     XLF $-0.080 -0.46% 40,362,792 46.46% 48,652,092 56.00% -8,289,300 -1,036,163
     EWZ $-0.780 -1.03% 6,049,791 35.03% 13,778,259 79.78% -7,728,468 -99,083

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows EWZ down $-0.78000 with a Friction Factor of -99,083 and a Net Volume of -7,728,468. That means that it takes 99,083 more shares of selling than buying to drop EWZ by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
