December 31, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2525 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2838 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2875 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. SINOCOKING COAL AND COKE CHE (NASDAQ:SCOK), ALLIANCE FIBER OPTIC PRODUCT (NASDAQ:AFOP), CARDERO RESOURCE CORP (AMEX:CDY), TII NETWORK TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:TIII), CONSUMER PORTFOLIO SERVICES (NASDAQ:CPSS), CHINA CARBON GRAPHITE GROUP (OTCBB:CHGI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction SCOK $1.660 16.16% 1,598,683 50.40% 1,532,943 48.33% 65,740 396 AFOP $1.910 13.87% 198,726 60.49% 127,362 38.77% 71,364 374 CDY $0.350 17.95% 1,056,619 54.16% 793,687 40.69% 262,932 7,512 TIII $0.450 19.31% 1,320,673 52.80% 1,176,406 47.03% 144,267 3,206 CPSS $0.170 16.67% 88,997 63.56% 51,032 36.44% 37,965 2,233 CHGI $0.260 17.57% 428,299 51.84% 370,220 44.81% 58,079 2,234
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CHGI with a dollar gain Friday of $0.26000 and a Friction Factor of 2,234 shares. That means that it only took 2,234 more shares of buying than selling to move CHGI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
