December 27, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2587 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2844 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2644 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. SNAP INTERACTIVE INC (OTCBB:STVI), GUSHAN ENVIRONMENTAL ENE-ADR (NYSE:GU), BIOSANTE PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:BPAX), DARA BIOSCIENCES INC (NASDAQ:DARA), JACKSON HEWITT TAX SERVICE (NYSE:JTX), BIOANALYTICAL SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:BASI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     STVI $0.750 150.00% 1,352,611 54.20% 1,131,203 45.33% 221,408 2,952
     GU $1.500 39.06% 1,297,162 48.87% 1,067,525 40.22% 229,637 1,531
     BPAX $0.410 26.35% 5,628,256 53.74% 4,833,959 46.16% 794,297 19,373
     DARA $1.650 73.33% 1,591,418 50.53% 1,512,014 48.01% 79,404 481
     JTX $0.530 29.94% 3,387,542 51.19% 3,227,155 48.77% 160,387 3,026
     BASI $0.480 28.24% 92,614 59.48% 63,099 40.52% 29,515 615

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BASI with a dollar gain Monday of $0.48000 and a Friction Factor of 615 shares. That means that it only took 615 more shares of buying than selling to move BASI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
