December 23, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2625 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2417 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2925 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. CLEAN POWER CONCEPTS INC (OTCBB:CPOW), URANERZ ENERGY CORP (AMEX:URZ), SONIC SOLUTIONS (NASDAQ:SNIC), PETROLEO BRASILEIRO S.A.-ADR (NYSE:PBR), US BANCORP (NYSE:USB), SIRIUS XM RADIO INC (NASDAQ:SIRI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     CPOW $0.052 24.76% 13,911,442 38.55% 20,952,694 58.07% -7,041,252 Abnormal
     URZ $0.070 2.12% 607,578 20.65% 2,306,028 78.39% -1,698,450 Abnormal
     SNIC $3.220 28.69% 9,451,357 44.59% 11,728,347 55.33% -2,276,990 Abnormal
     PBR $0.190 0.56% 4,883,745 38.78% 6,453,129 51.25% -1,569,384 Abnormal
     USB $0.070 0.26% 3,182,171 39.71% 4,112,409 51.32% -930,238 Abnormal
     SIRI $0.020 1.25% 48,621,563 45.53% 58,076,080 54.38% -9,454,517 Abnormal

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SIRI with 9,454,517 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.02000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
