December 22, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2666 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2936 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2462 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. POLYMEDIX INC (OTCBB:PYMX), LEGACY BANCORP INC (NASDAQ:LEGC), OXFORD INDUSTRIES INC (NYSE:OXM), ZOOM TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:ZOOM), MI DEVELOPMENTS INC-CL A (NYSE:MIM), REDIFF.COM INDIA LIMITED-ADR (NASDAQ:REDF). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction PYMX $0.206 23.57% 446,404 58.71% 312,375 41.08% 134,029 6,506 LEGC $4.000 46.51% 319,468 58.59% 219,066 40.18% 100,402 251 OXM $4.800 21.65% 475,034 45.61% 470,711 45.20% 4,323 9 ZOOM $1.030 26.89% 3,242,337 52.18% 2,891,720 46.54% 350,617 3,404 MIM $8.240 43.23% 1,369,975 48.89% 1,134,468 40.49% 235,507 286 REDF $1.080 28.05% 1,055,810 58.21% 755,018 41.63% 300,792 2,785
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows REDF with a dollar gain Wednesday of $1.08000 and a Friction Factor of 2,785 shares. That means that it only took 2,785 more shares of buying than selling to move REDF higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
