December 20, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2730 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2556 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2898 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Monday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. MICROSOFT CORP (NASDAQ:MSFT), MICRON TECHNOLOGY INC (NASDAQ:MU), DELL INC (NASDAQ:DELL), VANGUARD EMERGING MARKET ETF (NYSE:VWO), ISHARES MSCI EMERGING MKT IN (NYSE:EEM), EVERGREEN SOLAR INC (NASDAQ:ESLR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     MSFT $-0.030 -0.12% 18,486,875 30.18% 42,643,918 69.62% -24,157,043 -8,052,348
     MU $-0.080 -0.97% 10,837,331 45.20% 12,989,115 54.17% -2,151,784 -268,973
     DELL $-0.280 -2.05% 10,506,286 38.33% 16,902,041 61.67% -6,395,755 -228,420
     VWO $-0.140 -0.29% 6,619,632 45.86% 9,608,156 66.56% -2,988,524 -213,466
     EEM $-0.230 -0.51% 21,781,441 44.63% 24,049,701 49.27% -2,268,260 -98,620
     ESLR $-0.040 -7.25% 3,190,021 37.37% 5,345,045 62.62% -2,155,024 -538,756

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ESLR down $-0.04000 with a Friction Factor of -538,756 and a Net Volume of -2,155,024. That means that it takes 538,756 more shares of selling than buying to drop ESLR by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
