Market Maker Surveillance Report. RXII, SMOD, HYFXF, BLDR, AVTR, FSBK, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Friday, De
December 17, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2571 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2768 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2348 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. RXI PHARMACEUTICALS CORP (NASDAQ:RXII), SMART MODULAR TECHNOLOGIES (NASDAQ:SMOD), HYFLUX LTD (OTC:HYFXF), BUILDERS FIRSTSOURCE INC (NASDAQ:BLDR), AVATAR HOLDINGS INC (NASDAQ:AVTR), FIRST SOUTH BANCORP INC /NC (NASDAQ:FSBK). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction RXII $-0.460 -12.74% 456,951 38.79% 713,690 60.58% -256,739 -5,581 SMOD $-0.790 -12.40% 2,794,575 47.58% 3,072,200 52.31% -277,625 -3,514 HYFXF $-0.470 -18.95% 27,859 31.16% 40,550 45.35% -12,691 -270 BLDR $-0.160 -8.56% 190,379 45.19% 229,741 54.53% -39,362 -2,460 AVTR $-1.800 -9.26% 138,723 20.23% 200,590 29.25% -61,867 -344 FSBK $-1.500 -19.69% 167,211 49.47% 170,204 50.35% -2,993 -20
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows FSBK with a dollar loss Friday of $-1.50000 and a Friction Factor of -20 shares. That means that it only took 20 more shares of selling than buying to move FSBK lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
