December 16, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2544 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3412 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1932 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. CEREPLAST INC (NASDAQ:CERP), REGIS CORP (NYSE:RGS), VISA INC-CLASS A SHARES (NYSE:V), MESABI TRUST (NYSE:MSB), PARK-OHIO HOLDINGS CORP (NASDAQ:PKOH), THRESHOLD PHARMACEUTICALS (NASDAQ:THLD). To access Friction Factor, Naked Short Data and SqueezeTrigger Prices on all stocks please visit http://www.buyins.net .

Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     CERP $-0.410 -10.46% 48,347 48.45% 51,445 51.55% -3,098 -76
     RGS $-2.280 -12.44% 2,363,094 42.74% 2,549,073 46.10% -185,979 -816
     V $-10.090 -13.11% 20,666,204 41.40% 21,381,045 42.84% -714,841 -708
     MSB $-7.430 -13.98% 1,113,080 40.18% 1,333,485 48.14% -220,405 -297
     PKOH $-2.240 -10.02% 57,741 37.51% 95,189 61.84% -37,448 -167
     THLD $-0.170 -12.88% 87,848 31.61% 190,094 68.39% -102,246 -6,014

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows THLD with a dollar loss Thursday of $-0.17000 and a Friction Factor of -6,014 shares. That means that it only took 6,014 more shares of selling than buying to move THLD lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
