December 9, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2665 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3016 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2275 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Thursday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. DIREXION DAILY FINL BEAR 3X (NYSE:FAZ), ABITIBIBOWATER INC (OTC:ABWTQ), MGM RESORTS INTERNATIONAL (NYSE:MGM), LOWE'S COS INC (NYSE:LOW), NOKIA CORP-SPON ADR (NYSE:NOK), VANGUARD EMERGING MARKET ETF (NYSE:VWO). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     FAZ $-0.300 -2.86% 14,226,810 47.13% 16,077,980 53.26% -1,851,170 -61,706
     ABWTQ $-0.022 -82.71% 45,194,847 41.34% 61,868,934 56.59% -16,674,087 -7,579,130
     MGM $-0.380 -2.76% 23,392,440 43.18% 25,690,510 47.43% -2,298,070 -60,476
     LOW $-0.590 -2.30% 8,584,671 37.55% 11,204,955 49.01% -2,620,284 -44,412
     NOK $-0.320 -3.14% 14,143,532 35.92% 22,291,300 56.62% -8,147,768 -254,618
     VWO $-0.140 -0.31% 7,673,181 38.67% 9,319,697 46.96% -1,646,516 -117,608

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows VWO down $-0.14000 with a Friction Factor of -117,608 and a Net Volume of -1,646,516. That means that it takes 117,608 more shares of selling than buying to drop VWO by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
