December 3, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2641 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3175 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2041 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. OREXIGEN THERAPEUTICS INC (NASDAQ:OREX), ICOP DIGITAL INC (NASDAQ:ICOP), TBS INTERNATIONAL PLC-A (NASDAQ:TBSI), PALATIN TECHNOLOGIES INC (AMEX:PTN), RIT TECHNOLOGIES LTD (NASDAQ:RITT), CANADIAN OIL SANDS TRUST (OTC:COSWF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     OREX $-0.650 -11.88% 3,980,507 47.52% 4,374,291 52.23% -393,784 -6,058
     ICOP $-0.160 -11.35% 54,311 45.32% 63,580 53.05% -9,269 -579
     TBSI $-0.340 -8.95% 95,584 29.33% 230,249 70.64% -134,665 -3,961
     PTN $-0.180 -14.64% 136,500 43.32% 178,632 56.68% -42,132 -2,341
     RITT $-1.610 -12.44% 116,565 48.51% 120,549 50.17% -3,984 -25
     COSWF $-3.200 -11.34% 146,745 21.41% 187,713 27.39% -40,968 -128

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows COSWF with a dollar loss Friday of $-3.20000 and a Friction Factor of -128 shares. That means that it only took 128 more shares of selling than buying to move COSWF lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
