Market Maker Surveillance Report. JACK, WH, CISG, SPPR, ZLC, KONG, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Tuesday, Novem
November 23, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2533 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1372 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4138 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. JACK IN THE BOX INC (NASDAQ:JACK), WSP HOLDINGS LTD-ADR (NYSE:WH), CNINSURE INC-ADR (NASDAQ:CISG), SUPERTEL HOSPITALITY INC (NASDAQ:SPPR), ZALE CORP (NYSE:ZLC), KONGZHONG CORP-ADR (NASDAQ:KONG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction JACK $-2.380 -10.56% 1,666,433 48.66% 1,714,931 50.07% -48,498 -204 WH $-0.270 -18.62% 203,961 30.23% 430,659 63.84% -226,698 -8,396 CISG $-2.910 -13.28% 1,905,072 48.31% 1,984,887 50.33% -79,815 -274 SPPR $-0.170 -10.63% 49,094 39.12% 76,408 60.88% -27,314 -1,607 ZLC $-0.360 -10.71% 681,179 46.40% 706,006 48.09% -24,827 -690 KONG $-0.950 -12.43% 126,571 35.91% 225,437 63.95% -98,866 -1,041
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows KONG with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-0.95000 and a Friction Factor of -1,041 shares. That means that it only took 1,041 more shares of selling than buying to move KONG lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
