November 17, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2766 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2878 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2343 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. ISHARES MSCI MEXICO INVESTAB (NYSE:EWW), LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS INC (NASDAQ:LVLT), SPDR S&P 500 ETF TRUST (NYSE:SPY), NOKIA CORP-SPON ADR (NYSE:NOK), MOTOROLA INC (NYSE:MOT), US NATURAL GAS FUND LP (NYSE:UNG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     EWW $0.41 0.720% 1,606,256 29.810% 3,781,470 70.190% -2,175,214 Abnormal
     LVLT $0.01 0.900% 4,726,523 34.920% 8,807,491 65.080% -4,080,968 Abnormal
     SPY $0.05 0.040% 80,080,495 47.940% 82,096,055 49.140% -2,015,560 Abnormal
     NOK $0.07 0.690% 9,445,628 38.930% 12,329,864 50.820% -2,884,236 Abnormal
     MOT $0.12 1.540% 8,546,356 39.600% 11,044,394 51.170% -2,498,038 Abnormal
     UNG $0.24 4.360% 11,852,066 46.110% 13,943,959 54.250% -2,091,893 Abnormal

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Wednesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows UNG with 2,091,893 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.240. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
