Trey Ciulla-Hall, a baseball player from the University of Maryland, was denied additional eligibility by the NCAA following a lawsuit he filed against the organization. Ciulla-Hall, who played in 2023 after transferring from the University of San Diego, sought an extra year of eligibility due to a season-ending injury in 2022, which he argued was not adequately compensated by the NCAA's medical hardship waiver. Despite his legal efforts, the NCAA upheld its decision, stating that Ciulla-Hall had already played in more than 30% of his team's games during the season in question, thus not qualifying for the waiver. This ruling has left Ciulla-Hall unable to play in the 2024 season, impacting his final year of college baseball.
