Mediators make final push for Gaza truce deal

Despite these efforts, significant obstacles remain, including Hamas's demand for a permanent ceasefire and Israeli withdrawal, which Israel has rejected, insisting on the release of all hostages and the defeat of Hamas. The urgency of the situation is underscored by the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza, with widespread displacement and critical shortages of essentials like food, water, and medical supplies.
