Allied Electronics Donates $2,500 to the American Cancer Society While Encouraging Its Facebook Fans to Spread the Word About Beating Cancer

FORT WORTH, TX--(Marketwire - Apr 12, 2012) - [ Allied Electronics ], a trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE: ECM), donated $2,500 to the Fort Worth branch of the American Cancer Society in April. The donation was the result of a Facebook campaign designed to engage Facebook fans while creating awareness for the charity.

For every like, comment, share or new fan, Allied pledged to donate one dollar to the American Cancer Society, up to $2,500. The campaign grabbed the attention of Allied's 13,500 Facebook fans and was shared with more than 150,000 Facebook users.
